Autumn Half Term Activity Week
Bring Your Wellington Boots!
BOOKING IS NOW CLOSED
DATES: 27th October 2018 to 3rd November 2018
A monastery is a place of prayer and repentance, of joy and love, of beauty and hospitality. To make our monastery all of these things and more, we invite you to become co-founders. The monastery of Sts Antony and Cuthbert may be home to the Brotherhood of the Glorious Apostles Peter and Paul, but it doesn’t belong to us. It belongs to the entire Church, and the entire world. It belongs to you!
During this autumn’s half-term school holidays, we will be hosting a week of activities for everyone interested in contributing physically and prayerfully to the monastery. There are many jobs that need doing in the monastery before winter, and not much time to do them.
Please help us!
There are many ways you can help us during Half Term Activity Week. It is possible to stay overnight, for several days, or even for the whole week. However, accommodation is scarce and will need to be reserved in advance (see below). Children are welcome but only when accompanied by a responsible adult. We cannot accommodate any unaccompanied young people under the age of 18 years.
All meals will be provided by the monastery. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore the monastery, meet with the Abbot, and enjoy each other’s company in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The brothers will continue with their usual schedule of prayers, which you may join if you wish. An additional morning prayer service for our guests will be available just before breakfast time.
Activities for the week
There will be many projects with which to be involved, depending on your personal skills, interests, health, age and energy! These include:
- Planting fruit trees
- Creating vegetable gardens
- Laying paths
- Clearing gutters
- Decorating rooms
- Preparing food
- Enjoying fellowship
- Music evening
- Making new friends
At any one time, there will be 5 guest beds available, plus a large inside area for sleeping bags. If you would like to camp, there are wonderful places within the monastery grounds to pitch your tent.
